Members of the Association benefit from being insured for Professional Indemnity and Public Liability under the Association’s policy. This insurance is underwritten by Hiscox Insurance Company Limited, a specialist insurer. |
Who Joins the Association

IT professionals who want the fact that they work to professional standards to be acknowledged and recognised through accreditation. |

IT professionals who understand the benefit of their industry being regulated, thus ensuring the integrity of the industry. |

IT professionals who would like the support and promotional backing of an association, including legal assistance, advertising, press coverage and referrals. |

IT professionals who understand the benefit of being professionally insured cost effectively through an association, underwritten by an industry specialist and to have that insurance tailored for them within Membership. |

IT professionals are invited to apply for Membership. The criteria for membership are strict and include the following:

Membership is for an individual whose minimum age is 25 years at last birthday |
| • |
Membership is for an applicant with:
-at least five years experience in a computer industry sector and/or an accepted related sector.
(or)
a relevant professional qualification and at least three years' experience in a computer related industry sector and/or an accepted related sector. |

The Association will take relevant trade references and professional references on every application. |
| • |
An application from person or persons with a criminal record (other than motoring offences) will not be accepted. |
| • |
Membership is limited to individuals whose turnover does not exceed £150,000. Otherwise by special agreement. |
| • |
Membership is at the sole discretion of The Association. |
The Association of Computer Engineers and Technicians will provide Members with a Membership Pack on joining. This pack will contain a Certificate of Membership incorporating insurance cover and can be displayed so that your clients know they are contracting with an accredited, insured IT professional. The Membership Pack will also contain an abridged copy of the Association’s insurance policy, a Membership security card (optional and under separate charge), ACET logo for use on stationery and business cards, literature about service and product discounts available to Members and literature about how to feature on our electronic newsletter and website.
